We took advantage of a fine winter day to play hooky and hike in the Columbia River Gorge. Eagle Creek flows off the northwest face of Mount Hood into the mighty Columbia river through a steep forested canyon. The hike is just a short drive from Portland and recently re-opened after a devastating wildfire in 2017.

This is by far one of the most unique hikes in the area. A well-maintained trail snakes over exposed cliffs, weaving alongside the river as you climb up the canyon onto Mt. Hood.

We also discovered that Liz really loves snow and will go to great lengths to rub the dirtiest snow into her coat. It’s time for a bath, Liz!
