Emily grew up in Tacoma, WA, then moved to Oregon to complete her B.A. in Biology with a minor in Chemistry at Willamette University in 2021. At Willamette, Emily studied the phylogeny of parasitoid and primary gall wasps in the lab of Professor Briana Lindh. Following a year working in the Life Science Solutions division at HP Inc., Emily came to OHSU as a Research Assistant in 2022. She started in the lab of Braden Lobingier, where she studied opioid receptor trafficking, before joining the lab of Kimberly Beatty to study beta-lactamases of mycobacterial pathogens. Now as a Research Assistant and Lab Manager in the Frank Lab, Emily is using fluorescent probes to study the expression and localization of cannabinoid receptors in mouse and non-human primate tissues. Outside of the lab, you can find Emily practicing her violin, bass, or saxophone, playing competitive 9-ball, skiing, and enjoying life as a new cat mom.
