Meet Janelle Tobias

Janelle Tobias was raised in Orange County, California before completing her Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry at Santa Clara University in 2018. There, she joined the lab of Dr. Amelia Fuller to gain synthetic chemistry experience with a project focusing on developing a library of macrocyclic arylopeptoids. Tobias joined the Program in Molecular and Cellular Biosciences at Oregon Health & Science University in 2018. In 2019 she was appointed on the NIH Ruth L Kirschstein T32 Program in Enhanced Research Training (PERT) grant, and in 2020 she was awarded the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship. As a Type 1 Diabetic, Tobias is interested in investigating the role of the endocannabinoid system in regulating glucose metabolism and pancreatic beta-cell activity.
